Safety and accessibility improvements coming to Port Credit GO
Here’s what you need know about the improvements coming to this popular Lakeshore West station.

One of GO’s most popular Lakeshore West stations is getting a major facelift.
Starting today (August 4), Metrolinx will begin work at Port Credit GO station that will enhance the accessibility and safety features at the station. This includes:
- Installing new tactile yellow safety tiles on platforms
- Upgrading elevators that will connect the middle platform to the south platform
- A new accessible ramp that leads to the west end of the south platform
Metrolinx says all of these important improvements are part of the overall GO Expansion program aimed to provide a faster, more convenient and safer journey.

As part of the GO Expansion program, many stations across core parts of GO Network are gearing up for an increase in service over the next few years.
As Metrolinx continues to increase service and announces new infrastructure, the transit agency is continuing to take steps to improve the safety and customer experience at stations. The changes coming are part of this.
The construction will take place in phases and is expected to take at least a year to complete. The transit agency says they are focused on keeping the project on schedule while minimizing construction impact to customers and the community.
Parking Impacts
The first thing customers will notice is a small reduction in the number of parking spots.
To allow the contractors to safely store essential construction materials, 15 parking spaces in the southwest parking lot by Stavebank Road will be unavailable during the construction.
Changes to the Platforms
Construction will also begin on the platforms, with new yellow safety tiles being installed at the edge of the train platforms. The new tactile tiles will not only enhance accessibility, but also indicate to customers how far back they need to stand.

Once this work is complete, crews will begin to upgrade the elevators that connect the island and south platform.
Other upgrades include the accessible ramp that leads to the east end of the south platform as well as an addition – a new accessible ramp will be installed that will lead to the west end of the south platform.
These works may affect how you get on and off the trains.
The exact details and the logistics are still being finalized but once known, customers will be informed ahead of time, before construction starts on any of these amenities.
Metrolinx expects to complete all these improvements in late 2021.
