Supporting cars, trucks and light rail vehicles is a heavy job.
That’s why the first step to building a strong bridge is building an even stronger foundation.
In preparation for the Hurontario LRT, construction crews have started laying the ground work for expanding the Highway 407 overpass at Hurontario Street.
When it’s done, the expansion will widen the overpass by two additional lanes and will ensure traffic flows smoothly across the Highway 407 bridge.
Right now, crews are working on the initial steps involved in this expansion by constructing the columns. They are using six metre tall columns that will support the widening of the overpass when crews begin major construction next year.
