A tunnel is seen shieled by a yellow, fabric-like waterproof coating.

Laird Station gets the ultimate umbrella

Take a look at some of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT progress currently being made.

Jun 24, 2019

While the sky above may be grey on this Monday, things are sunny yellow far below at Laird Station.

Yellow waterproofing material has been added to the roof of the archway.

As well, the big dig has seen a recent milestone, as mining has been completed on the cavern west of the main entrance. Crews will now transition to permanent works in this section.

Construction of Laird, located under Eglinton Avenue East and Laird Drive, began in 2016 with piling work and entrance excavation. Today, mining is ongoing beneath the roadway while traffic continues to flow undisrupted over top. Mining is no easy task, as we have seen from our other mined stations, Oakwood and Avenue.
