Hazel McCallion LRT brings community benefits to Peel

LRT along Hurontario Street to include community benefits.

Metrolinx recognizes that its major infrastructure investments can provide employment, apprenticeship, and local supplier opportunities to surrounding communities.

The Hazel McCallion light rail transit line community benefits program located in Mississauga and Brampton contributes to economic opportunities, training and workforce development, social enterprise and procurement opportunities, as well as overall neighbourhood improvements along the corridor.

As of Dec. 2022, Mobilinx, the constructor of the Hazel McCallion Line, has made approximately $95 million in local business investments and $837,000 in social enterprise investments since construction began in Oct. 2019.

Community hiring

There have been approximately 337 community benefits hires on the Hazel McCallion LRT project, including labourers, apprentices, and journeypersons.

The Peel Community Benefits Network ensures that residents benefit from the economic opportunities that large infrastructure projects bring to the community.
