It’s just a glimpse of what’s to come as part of the Eglinton Crosstown but it’s enough to give those involved in designing the stations goosebumps.

“It’s the opportunity to really create and build what the stations will look like,” said Renee Daoust, a founder partner for the urban design firm Daoust Lestage and member of the Metrolinx design review panel.

A replica of one of the stations has been built at an off-site location to allow construction and design teams to see their work up close in advance.

One of the top priorities for designing the entire Eglinton Crosstown line from the beginning has been the customer experience.

“A lot of engineers think about moving the trains,” said Charlie Hoang, the Director of Transit Architecture for IBI Group. “We always think about moving people.”

Stations will feature windows and skylights, with layouts that allow as much daylight inside as possible, even down to the platform level.
