Heavy roadwork this week on Hurontario LRT
Median removals & minor construction happening along Hurontario LRT route. Find out more.
Jun 12, 2020
In time for hotter weather, the Hurontario light rail transit (LRT) project is shedding a few pounds.
Median removals and minor construction activities for the Hurontario Light Rail Transit Project (HuLRT) are well underway for the LRT route, more commonly called the HuLRT.
The median is the strip of land between opposing traffic lanes. In this case, as new images show, the medians along Hurontario Street are mixed, including flat and raised surfaces. In preparation for the future construction of the LRT, all medians need to be removed and leveled with the road’s surface.
Once the process is complete, these areas will be converted to a roadway to ensure traffic keeps moving during construction of the new transit line.
Over the course of the spring and summer months, you will see crews removing medians in several areas of Hurontario Street. The goal is to be as minimally disruptive as possible, however traffic delays and short-term lane reductions are to be expected at this time.
