Woodbine bridge work

Woodbine Avenue traffic impacts during bridge construction

Expanding the Woodbine bridge is one step to increasing service on the Lakeshore East GO Line.

Jan 6, 2023

Crews will be widening Woodbine bridge in Toronto’s east end starting in the new year.

By adding a span to the north side, the bridge will be able to accommodate a fourth track in the future.

This work supports more frequent service on the Lakeshore East GO Line, giving people more flexibility in their schedules.

By building on current tracks, the transit agency can improve infrastructure that will deliver faster, two-way, all-day, 15-minute rail service on core segments of the network.

There will be several stages of work, including overnight shifts and traffic impacts on Woodbine Avenue until winter 2023.

The traffic reconfiguration is necessary for crews to set up a safe work zone.

Traffic and pedestrian changes are outlined below:

  • Traffic heading both north and south on Woodbine Avenue between Danforth Avenue and Gerrard Street East will notice a lane shift. One traffic lane will be maintained in each direction.
  • Bike lanes will be temporarily closed
  • There will be no impact to pedestrians
