Despite some pavement-scorching weather, Crosslinx Transit Solutions, the builders working on the Crosstown light rail transit (LRT) system for Metrolinx, aren’t taking it easy.

Local residents and those heading to area businesses may have noticed a short, new section of tunnel on the TTC subway just south of Eglinton Station.

The work is a good example of how ongoing work is not only about the future LRT, but how it fits within the existing subway system.

Crews have been working to install spans that will support a new mechanical building for Line 1. The spans form a platform, an elevated building base of sorts, on top of which the new services building will be built. The mechanical building will house a new ventilation system for the subway line.
