Metrolinx upgrades Toronto bridge for GO Transit expansion work

When it comes to transit expansion work, it’s not all tracks and trains.
Sometimes you have to look up and realize it’s the little things that help bring a transit project together. That’s the case of one northwest Toronto bridge that needed some major improvements.
Over the last year, Metrolinx has been renovating the rail corridor bridge that crosses over Rogers Road – just north of Toronto’s Junction neighbourhood.
Construction crews recently completed the project after 13 months of work on both the road and track level to repair the actual steel and concrete structures. All of that hard work is to support the future installation of a second track and ultimately bring more GO train service on the Barrie GO corridor as part of the GO Expansion project.

The Rogers Road bridge project is one piece of the bigger GO Expansion puzzle, which involves updating and modernizing GO infrastructure from Hamilton, to Barrie, to Oshawa. This work allows Metrolinx to continue incrementally increasing GO train service for people across the region.
