Drivers, start your engines: Revving up for the Honda Indy

Getting to Honda Indy Toronto with GO

Jul 8, 2019

Exhibition Place and surrounding streets will be transformed into a temporary 11-turn, 1.7-mile racetrack when the 2019 Honda Indy Toronto zooms into town July 12 to 14, and GO Transit is making it easy – and affordable – to get you to the action.

Race car enthusiasts and families can save on Honda Indy admission and GO combo passes when bought in advance online. The packaged deal is just $45 for a single-day general admission combo pass and $70 for a two-day general admission combo pass. Get the details at gotransit.com/indy.

Honda Indy fans can take the Lakeshore West GO train to Exhibition GO Station, with a drop off steps away from the race. This is the easiest way to get to the Honda Indy with road closures in effect on parts of Lakeshore Blvd West. And GO has your little ones covered: not only can kids 12 and under ride GO Transit for free, but they will also receive free general admission to the Honda Indy with an event-ticketed adult.

Once inside the gates, Honda Indy attendees will be seeing double – in the form of a double-decker GO bus, that is. The vehicle, arguably the slowest within eyesight, will be decked out in Indy car inspired stickers representing ‘Team GO Racing’. GO Bear will also be there, dressed in racing gear, cheering on Team GO.

How does the GO bus stack up against an NTT IndyCar Series Car? Let’s take a look:

GO Bus:

  • 380 horsepower engine
  • 26 metric tons in weight
  • Eight wheels

NTT IndyCar Series Car:

  • Twin-turbocharged, 2.2-liter V-6 engine
  • 550-700 horsepower
  • Approximately 1,630 pounds (road/street courses)
  • Four wheels

*No, the GO bus will not try to overtake James Hinchcliffe for the win. It will simply cheer silently from the sidelines.
