Lakeshore West GO Expansion

Today, the Lakeshore West line delivers two-way, all-day service seven days a week, from Toronto to Aldershot. It delivers rush-hour service from Hamilton to Toronto in the morning and back again in the afternoon. Regular weekday GO Train service for commuters in Niagara Falls and St. Catharines started in January 2019, and since August 31, 2019, weekend service between Toronto and Niagara started running all year round. But we know this line can do even more. We know it can be faster, with more trips all day long. We know it can deliver better service for you and your family for everything you need from your transit system. The Lakeshore West GO expansion will expand your possibilities. With 15-minute service or better throughout the day between Toronto and Burlington, alongside new hourly service to and from Hamilton seven days a week, you’ll have more ways to get where you need to go.

You’re in Aldershot, and you’ve got to make a mid-afternoon meeting in Toronto. Or, you’re in Oakville, and you want to go visit your parents in Port Credit. No matter your story, an upgraded Lakeshore West line will help you do what matters most. Enter a seamless transit journey that will take you from home to every corner of the Greater Golden Horseshoe.

Weekly trips on our GO network are increasing from about 1,500 weekly to nearly 6,000, meaning even more residents can enjoy the convenience and seamless journey of our transit system. We’re making it easier for you to choose transit first.

Live, work, and play everywhere and anywhere you want, by having access to everything. Connections to local transit like the HSR, Burlington Transit, Oakville Transit, MiWay, and the TTC mean you will have the kind of access you’ve always wanted.
