Enhancing Travel Around a Rapidly Growing Region

Year after year, train by train, bus by bus, Metrolinx has steadily increased GO Transit service. And now, that work is taking on a whole new energy as we pilot GO train service to London, Ontario. Through the pilot we are extending our network by an additional 120 kilometres into one of the province’s fastest growing regions.

Expanding GO Train service to Southwestern Ontario connects the existing system to three new municipalities, amplifying transit connections within the region, and beyond.

All alignments, stations, stops, locations, names and quantity of stations/stops are conceptual and subject to change.

Expanded rail service will connect Southwestern Ontario to the Region of Waterloo with direct access to the larger GO Transit network through the Kitchener corridor.

While helping to reduce congestion, service will create options to travel to and from Toronto for work or fun, with many communities to explore along the way.

For students, this means more connections to colleges and universities, including Fanshawe College, University of Guelph, Wilfred Laurier University, University of Waterloo, and Western University.

Metrolinx will continue to work with its rail partners to find smarter and better ways to operate our services in parallel and deliver new service where possible.
