We get it, taking on more change to your routine is hard. But fortunately, this one is temporary, as important upgrades take place along GO Transit’s popular eastern rail line.

There will be some adjustments to Lakeshore East train service on Friday, Nov. 6, to Sunday, Nov. 8, to accommodate track signal work between Guildwood GO Station and Rouge Hill GO Station. The upgrades include installation of new structures – intermediate signal bungalows and two new crossing bungalows. A ‘bungalow’ is a shelter for rail controls, and helps relay information and instructions. They are among the many inanimate unsung heroes that get riders where they need to be.

So some trips will depart later than usual and some train trips will be cancelled and replaced by GO buses.

Plan ahead so you know what your transit options are.

And here are some other things to keep in mind:

• If you’re using PRESTO, tap on the device when boarding and exiting the GO bus. Don’t tap on the machines at the station.
• Avoid lining up at the station. Load money onto your PRESTO card using the PRESTO App, or buy your ticket online.
• Face coverings are essential to keeping everyone safe and are mandatory on GO Transit. Be sure to properly wear it so that it covers your nose, mouth and chin while in stations, on platforms and for your entire train or bus ride.
• Wash your hands often. When you can’t, hand sanitizer is readily available along your journey.

Regular train service will resume Monday, Nov. 9.

While most of us don’t need more shifts in our routines or habits, this upcoming work will lead to better service and a more reliable journey for GO customers. So this change is nettlesome but necessary.
