Attendance at Toronto FC matches is sure to grow following the recent player signings.

In anticipation of bigger crowds, Metrolinx is doing its part to ease congestion on the way to the next game.

On Saturday, Aug. 13, Lakeshore East and West schedules will be adjusted before the Toronto FC-Portland Timbers match.

Pre-game, on the Lakeshore East Line:

• All westbound trips from Oshawa GO from 4:10 p.m. to 6:40 p.m. will depart five minutes earlier than regularly scheduled.
• The last trip before kickoff will arrive at 7:17 p.m.

Lakeshore East customers who are not going to the game should be aware that all eastbound trips from Union Station from 5:35 p.m. to 7:35 p.m. will depart 15 minutes later than regularly scheduled.

Pre-game, on the Lakeshore West Line:

• All westbound trips from Union Station from 5:15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. will depart five minutes earlier than regularly scheduled
• The 4:13 p.m., 5:13 p.m. and 6:13 p.m. eastbound trips from West Harbour GO will depart 10 minutes later, at 4:23 p.m., 5:23 p.m. and 6:23 p.m., and arrive at Exhibition GO and Union Station 15 minutes later than regularly scheduled
• The 4:55 p.m. and 5:55 p.m. eastbound trips from Aldershot GO will depart 10 minutes later, at 5:05 p.m. and 6:05 p.m., and arrive at Exhibition GO and Union Station 15 minutes later than regularly scheduled
• During these adjustments, eastbound trains will also make longer than normal scheduled stops at the most popular stations on the Lakeshore West Line to give customers extra time to board their trains
• The last two trips before kickoff will arrive at 6:36 p.m. and 7:06 p.m.

Trains from both directions will arrive on the south platform before the game, giving westbound fans a shorter walk to the stadium and avoiding the tunnel under the tracks. Afterwards, trains are expected to depart from their usual platforms – but as always, make sure to check departure boards.

On the way out, in another effort ease crowding, fans going to Liberty Village will have access to the newly extended tunnel, allowing them to bypass the north platform, and exit the station on Atlantic Avenue.

The new plan is similar to what was in place on July 23.

These schedule changes are designed to improve the flow of people by spreading fans out among more trains and timing their arrival to reduce congestion at the stadium gates.
