Before welcoming future light rail transit (LRT), comes some necessary adjustments still being made to bus travel around a major Toronto hub.

Eglinton West Station is undergoing change as the team works towards transforming it into Cedarvale Station, the sixth station heading east on the new Eglinton Crosstown LRT line.

Crews are getting ready to start construction of the roof for the future station. The first step will be to remove the decking on the bus driveways leading into the station. This will cause some disruption to users of the station as the bus loop will need to be closed to accommodate construction.

Closing the bus loop allows for work to be completed sooner and is less disruptive than closing parts of the bus loop in stages.

From late-March until late in the coming summer, commuters looking to catch a bus from Eglinton West Station will need to do so at the temporary covered bus platforms on Eglinton Avenue, just west of the station.

Crossing guards will be onsite to help pedestrians safely navigate between the bus platforms and the subway station. For more information on transit changes and detours, just click here.

Underpinning work is now complete at the station. Needle beam installation was successfully completed in January, creating the cradle that is now supporting the weight of the TTC’s Line 1 subway while work continues below. Careful and methodical excavation continues directly below the subway tunnel in one metre increments to maintain ground stability, until the final depth is reached.
