Pride is back in person this year – and the Metrolinx team is participating in the festivities for the tenth year.

Employees from across the transit organization, including the Metrolinx Pride 365 committee, have worked hard to prepare for this year’s Pride Month events – including the upcoming Pride parades.

“We are thrilled to join the Pride parade again this year,” said David Jang, chief communications officer at Metrolinx.

“At Metrolinx, participation and engagement in events like the Pride parade are a demonstration of how we value equity, diversity and inclusion.”

This year, Metrolinx is partnering with Pride Toronto once again – so be sure to look out for the decked-out GO Bus in the Toronto Pride Parade.

For the first time, Metrolinx’s parade float will be electric. Wrapped earlier this month, the double-decker GO Bus is themed “All aboard! Everybody in!”, and aims to highlight intersectionality and diversity.

Allies and members of the community can join the Toronto Pride parade on June 26 from 2:00 p.m. to around 5:00-6:00 p.m. and see the special GO Bus in person. The parade will start at Church and Bloor and ends at Yonge/Dundas Square – GO Transit and UP Express continue to be the best way to get there.

It’s expected to be a very busy day in the city, so customers are encouraged to plan their trip ahead of time.

More than just Toronto Pride

The Metrolinx team is excited to be participating in multiple Pride events this year.

In addition to the Toronto parade, Metrolinx will be at York Pride on June 18.

Located in Newmarket, the parade starts at Main Street North and ends at Ontario Street – right near Newmarket GO Station.

Earlier in the month, Metrolinx also took part in a Pride sign unveiling at the West Toronto Railpath. In this event, Metrolinx’s chief inclusion officer Karima Hashmani joined PrideTO and other dignitaries to unveil a colourful Pride display.

Although many of the festivities are happening this month, at Metrolinx, Pride doesn’t only happen in June.

The Pride 365 employee resource group (ERG) works on events and initiatives year-round – including partnering with Global Black Pride at the end of July – and inclusion is always top-of-mind at the transit agency. This way, employees can feel heard and represented all year.
