Metrolinx holds event for Eglinton Crosstown West Extension
Check out brand new concept renderings and find out how to get involved.

There has been a lot of talk lately about the tunnelled parts of the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension.
Late last month, the advance tunnel contract was awarded to West End Connectors. They’re the team who will be designing, building, and financing the tunnels between Renforth Drive and Scarlett Road.
Once built, the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension will extend the Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit (LRT) project just over nine kilometres further west into Mississauga, making it faster and easier for more people to move around the region.
And while the extension will travel mostly underground, it will be elevated just west of Scarlett Road and to just east of Jane Street – approximately 1.5 kilometres in total.
Metrolinx knows there is a lot of interest from the local community about what this elevated guideway will look like and how it will fit into the landscape of the area. At the virtual open house on June 8, the project team will be walking through some of the design principles that help to inform decisions and to seek feedback from the community on early concepts for the elevated guideway.
Although the construction work won’t start until 2025, the final design of the elevated guideway will be needed for the stations, rail, and systems contract, which will be the next phase of procurement work for the project.
Community feedback is vitally important at this stage in the process so Metrolinx can give its future project partners proper direction on design considerations and standards that need to be factored into their construction plans.
