GO Trains now travelling across Davenport Diamond Guideway

The Davenport Diamond Guideway is now open.

Apr 4, 2023

A significant milestone has been reached on the Davenport Diamond Guideway project.

GO Trains are now travelling on the new elevated guideway, located above several busy streets and the CP Rail tracks.

This project will reduce congestion and enable more pedestrian as well as cyclist connections by enabling GO Trains to seamlessly travel above existing traffic.

The guideway supports more frequent, two-way, all-day service on the Barrie Line in the future.

A recent weekend track closure on the Barrie GO Line allowed crews to make the necessary connections to the existing mainline track at the north and south ends of the project.

This is known as a “track tie-in” and one connection took place south of Bloor Street and the other north of Davenport Road.

With the new west main line track now operational, the decommissioning and removal of the temporary diversion track can begin.

After the temporary track is removed, crews can finish construction on the remaining bridges, walls, multi-use paths, and track work for the future east main line track.
