Community gets up close with GO during Touch-a-Truck Durham
Metrolinx takes part in Touch-a-Truck in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of South-West Durham.

Thousands of people came out to the eighth annual Touch-a-Truck event in downtown Oshawa.
The event, held at the Tribute Community Centre grounds on Aug. 26, had been on hiatus since 2019 due to the pandemic.

The free event brought out families in the region and gave kids a chance to get up close and personal with more than 40 vehicles, including a GO Bus.
In all, the event drew over 4,000 people and raised money for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of South-West Durham.
Getting on board a GO Bus
Kids and parents were eager to climb aboard one of Metrolinx’s iconic green double decker GO Buses alongside a real-life bus driver.

Of the thousands that attended, more than 400 people got on board the GO Bus.
Many of the visitors told Metrolinx staff they were excited seeing a double decker bus as they haven’t ridden transit since before the pandemic began.
The Metrolinx community engagement team was on hand to answer questions about transit plans for Durham Region.
Metrolinx staff were also giving out transit swag – including hundreds of cardboard buses.
