Weekend schedule changes for Barrie Line and Niagara Falls

Maintenance and construction work will improve service for passengers.

Sep 7, 2022

Metrolinx is constantly working to improve service for passengers.

This weekend (Sept. 9-11), necessary maintenance and construction work will result in temporary schedule changes on the Barrie GO Line and trips to Niagara Falls.

Starting the evening of Friday, Sept. 9 through the whole weekend, trains will not be in service on the Barrie Line. Buses will replace some of the cancelled train trips and serve all stations except Downsview Park GO.

On Saturday, Sept. 10 and Sunday Sept. 11, Niagara Falls train trips will be adjusted.

Trains will depart Union Station nine minutes later than usual and will have 10 minutes of additional travel time. Trains will leave from Niagara Falls 57 minutes later than usual and have 10 minutes of additional travel time.

The maintenance work will help ensure reliable train service in the future.

Barrie Line construction will include, rail crossing improvements, platform and track work, plus culvert installation.

Crews will be doing bridge and track work, including at the Mimico Creek bridge along the Lakeshore West Line.

To reduce the number of interruptions, Metrolinx coordinates construction and maintenance so that as much work as possible can be done simultaneously on a particular line.

Riders are encouraged to use gotransit.com or triplinx.ca to plan trips and check the Metrolinx Service Updates page for real-time details.
