You have a sophisticated light rail transit vehicle to yourself – almost.

We have front window view footage of testing of the rapid transit vehicles along the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (LRT) route – and the view is pretty engaging.

Back in October, the Crosstown project crew hit a milestone where they completed installation of  track between the Eglinton Maintenance and Storage Facility (EMSF) and the entrance of Caledonia Station in the west.

Take a ride with the team in this latest video that shows the vehicle making its journey from the EMSF – where the vehicles will be housed and worked on – through the rail yard, into the tunnel to Keelesdale Station.

The vehicle then reverses its tracks, going from Keelesdale Station, ending its journey at the platform at Mount Dennis Station.

With the track now complete, vehicle testing can happen daily. Most recently, teams started testing coupled trains in both the EMSF yard and on the test track – this is the configuration they’ll use during the opening of the line.

At some point down the line, once Toronto gets used to using Crosstown, many customers will be looking down to devices or books. But right now, during the important testing phase, it’s difficult to not keeping staring out the window of the light rail vehicle.
