Ontario Line team ends 2021 with virtual open houses this week

On Nov. 23 and 25, Metrolinx is holding two online events to recap some milestones from this year.

In true holiday fashion, the Ontario Line team is bringing everyone together to wrap up an eventful year of project milestones and advances, with two virtual open house events.

Previous virtual open house events focused specifically on each of the project’s four segments – west, downtown, east and north. The team is taking a different approach this time and will be talking about the entire line and plans for communities all along the way.

Whether you live or work in the west segment between Exhibition and Queen/Spadina, the downtown segment between Queen and Corktown, the east segment between East Harbour and Gerrard or the north segment between Pape and Science Centre, you’ll leave with a better understanding of the bigger Ontario Line picture.

“There might still be a lot of folks in the City of Toronto who don’t really know what the Ontario Line is all about,“ says Mark Clancy, Metrolinx senior manager of community engagement for the Ontario Line.

“This is a great opportunity to invite people across the entire route to the same virtual space to see how the Ontario Line will not just benefit their own neighbourhoods, but the whole city and region.”

People can join the panelists at one of two events happening this week – on Tuesday, Nov. 23, and Thursday, Nov. 25, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. – to learn more about the Ontario Line.

The events will end with a question and answer period with a combination of questions asked online ahead of the event, as well as those asked by community members live over audio.

“Giving members of the community an opportunity to ask their questions in real time is a very important part of these meetings,” explains Clancy. “It’s something we missed from in-person events, so we’re very glad we’ve been able to make it a standard part of our online format.”

Anyone looking to attend can register online now and submit their questions before the event.
