New Finch West LRT images show windows designed to protect birds
From guideways to green roofs, the Finch West LRT team continues to make headway on the new line.

The Finch West Maintenance and Storage Facility (MSF) is starting to look almost complete in a new aerial shot.
The image is among a group of new pictures taken of work on the Finch West light rail transit line, as the Toronto project gains ground – and tracks.

The 10,000 square metre MSF will store light rail vehicles and house shops for service, repairs and inspections. It’s being constructed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Certification – a global standard designed of environmental protection measures – and will have a green roof.
In another image, taken inside the MSF, workers are seen standing in what will one day be office space for employees. The dot pattern on the windows is used to deter birds from colliding with the window.

Then there’s what looks like a mess of tarps and wood right now. The area will one day be the guideway that the light rail vehicle (LRV) will run along in its own dedicated right of way.

This complicated piece of track work is ongoing around York Gate Boulevard, located near the Finch West LRT MSF site.
Vehicles will be able to travel in and out of the facility along what is currently some complicated rail work.
