To showcase the important place local businesses play during construction of Toronto’s Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit (LRT) route – as well as how customers will use the line to get to those popular shops in the future – a new business support video has been released.

Eglinton Avenue spans across the City of Toronto and is home to all types of businesses. From Mount Dennis in the west, which used to be its own township so it has all the necessities to be a self-sustaining community, all the way to the big-box stores in the east.

Along the way there are pockets of little communities with their own flare – ‘Little Jamaica’ and it’s mom and pop shops, Mount Pleasant with its historical site station entrance to match the surrounding area, and Laird with a shopping strip the community has relied on for the past 50 years.

When complete, the Eglinton Crosstown LRT will make it even easier to get to and from the more than 1,000 businesses that call Eglinton Avenue home.

Together with Crosstown constructor, Crosslinx Transit Solutions (CTS), Metrolinx works closely with local Councillors, City of Toronto staff, Toronto Police Services, local Business Improvement Areas (BIAs), residents and businesses to monitor and mitigate impacts, where possible.

We make every effort to ensure that businesses receive up-to-date information on construction activities and timing and where they are directly impacted, they are supported. The newly released video is part of that ongoing partnership.
