Metrolinx open house to give Davenport Diamond Greenway update
Design on the Greenway is underway and Metrolinx will share the updates in a virtual open house.
Nov 26, 2021
Metrolinx is ready to share the first Davenport Diamond Greenway design updates at an upcoming virtual open house.
The Greenway will be located in the new open space created when the raised Davenport Diamond Guideway is completed. The Davenport Diamond, located at the rail intersection where the Barrie GO corridor meets the CP tracks, is one of the busiest intersections in North America. To help solve the congestion problem, and meet promised two-way all-day GO service, a guideway is being built above the CP line. The Greenway will represent significant new public space and provide valuable connections for the community to enjoy.

The virtual event will provide the community with an update on the design work to date, gather feedback for concept development, and answer any questions. Next steps for the project will also be shared.
Residents will see the conceptual/preliminary design that has been based on community consultation in the past several years. Those ‘design drivers’ provide a set of aspirational goals for the project and describe the key concepts underlying the design.
While the goal of this event is not to go back to the drawing board, the design team will be looking for feedback on their work to date. This event is an opportunity to ask questions and take a closer look at the design progress, along with how it has been impacted by consultation with the community.

Virtual open house on Nov. 29, with materials available for review and comment, as well as a Dec. 13 live event with questions and answers.
Presentation materials will be made available on Metrolinx Engage for two weeks to allow people flexibility to view the self-guided presentation materials at their own pace. Also, there will be a feature to submit questions online.
The work to be presented in the slide deck will explore three areas:
- The urban design plan elements and organization,
- The landscape approach,
- The connection points – (Wallace Avenue, Campbell Park, Dupont Bridge and Ramp, Davenport Road)
