Metrolinx marks Remembrance Day
Due to COVID-19, Remembrance Day will be recognized a little differently this year.
Nov 9, 2020
On Nov. 11, the ride – for veterans and military members – is on Metrolinx.
While the fight against the pandemic will mean many Remembrance Day events have gone virtual, travel on GO Transit and UP Express is still free for those who have served in the Canadian Armed Forces or are current members, as well as a companion.

Those veterans and service members are asked to identify themselves by wearing or carrying their medals, beret, blazer, uniform or other similar belongings while traveling.
Immediate family members of deceased veterans may also ride for free on Remembrance Day if carrying something to identify their relationship to the late veteran, such as service papers or an identification card.
If you plan to use our service this Remembrance Day, help keep each other safe along the way. Be sure to wear your face covering properly so that it covers your nose, mouth and chin while in stations, on platforms and for your entire trip.

This Remembrance Day will be different than most, but it doesn’t mean those who have worn the uniform for Canada – or those who still do – will be forgotten.
