Bloor Street Bridge work Barrie Line

Improvements bring more GO Trains more often

Bloor Street West will be fully closed overnight from Oct. 23-28 for bridge installation.

Oct 18, 2023

Work continues to progress on the Davenport Diamond Guideway project.

While trains are now running along the elevated tracks, important construction is ongoing.

It’s part of the bigger GO Expansion project that supports more frequent GO Train service on the Barrie Line in both directions. Increasing service will make it easier to get to work, connect with family/friends and visit places across the region.

Upcoming bridge work

The next phase of this work involves key bridge upgrades in west Toronto.

Bloor Street West will be closed between St. Helens Avenue and Ruttan Street from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Monday Oct. 23 to and including Friday Oct. 27. The work will wrap up Saturday Oct. 28 at 5 a.m. Crews will be installing the east bridge span during this time.

During the bridge work, residents should know:

  • No through-traffic of any kind will be allowed under the bridge between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • All pedestrians, cyclists and drivers will be detoured via Lansdowne Avenue and Symington Avenue going north/south and across Wallace Avenue going east/west
  • Metrolinx encourages everyone to plan ahead and build in extra time

Leading up to Oct. 23, partial closures of Bloor Street West will be in place for ongoing work. During the partial closure, one sidewalk will remain open, and one lane will be maintained in each direction for traffic travelling east and west.
