Jun 29, 2022
Communities across the region are coming back together this year to celebrate Canada Day, and Metrolinx is helping people get there.
One example is a new partnership between Metrolinx and Oakville Transit to make the festivities more convenient.
Anyone attending the local Canada Day festivities can park at Bronte GO Station and take the Oakville Transit shuttle to and from Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park.
More information on Oakville Canada Day plans
On Friday, July 1, the Town of Oakville is hosting a free, family-friendly event at Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park beginning at 6 p.m. Celebrations include entertainment, food trucks and fireworks.
Road closures will be in effect within the event area, and there will be no parking available onsite.
That’s where Oakville Transit and Metrolinx come into play.
To help make your trip easier, park at Bronte GO Station and take the Oakville Transit shuttle to the park. You’ll only have to pay one way to park and ride the shuttle; use your PRESTO card at the applicable rate or pay $4 per person cash (exact change). Children under the age of 12 ride for free.
- The Oakville Transit shuttle to and from Bronte GO Station will begin at 5:30 p.m. and run every 10 minutes
- The last shuttle to Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park will depart from Bronte GO Station at 9:30 p.m., and the last shuttle returning to Bronte GO Station will leave the park at 11 p.m.
- All Oakville Transit shuttles are accessible, wheelchair and stroller friendly
Metrolinx is supporting the Oakville Transit shuttle service from Bronte GO Station by providing an easy travel option for event goers. As with any special event, Metrolinx encourages attendees to plan their trip in advance.
