GO Transit is discontinuing Route 90 bus service in Durham Region.

The cancellation takes effect as of Dec. 5 and comes after Durham Region Transit (DRT) introduced a duplicate service in September, which takes passengers between Oshawa GO and Bowmanville, via Oshawa Centre and Downtown Oshawa. That route – 902A – runs every half hour.

GO Transit is cancelling the Route 90 service to avoid duplication and put resources where they are needed the most.

They can also use the Triplinx app to plan trips across the region, from start to finish, and see what the fares will be.

Route 90B will continue to run, as it has.

After the DRT service was introduced, GO bus Route 90 was reduced in late October. It now runs hourly during the rush hours and every two hours during other times. That amounts to 31 trips run daily on weekdays, with an average ridership of 167 customers each day. On weekends, there’s been 23 daily trips, supporting 85 riders a day.

With the cancellation of Route 90, some customers’ fares will also change. However, while passengers connecting between GO and DRT may pay a different fare, their DRT portion will only cost 80-cents when using PRESTO.
