Stage 1 lane reductions on Pape Avenue for Cosburn Station construction

What is Happening?

  • Vehicular traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions along Pape Avenue between Gamble Avenue and Gowan Avenue beyond the timeline mentioned in this notice. 
  • These lane reductions will be in place throughout the duration of the project. 
  • Two-way traffic is being maintained on Cosburn Avenue and Pape Avenue. 
  • Overnight work may be required for a few days between 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. to implement the traffic lane closures. 
  • Jersey barriers will be installed to separate the construction site from the traffic lanes. 
  • The pedestrian sidewalk on the west side of Pape Avenue between Gamble and Gowan will be closed throughout the duration of the project.

What to expect

  • Construction lighting may be visible from the work site.
  • Trucks and construction equipment may generate dust during construction.
  • Crews will take precautions to monitor and reduce dust.
  • Increased presence of construction vehicles and equipment can be expected in the work area.
  • Work areas will be clearly marked or fenced off to ensure public safety.
  • Please exercise caution around active construction sites.
  • Work may be delayed or rescheduled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

  • The south sidewalk will be closed on Cosburn Avenue west of Pape Avenue for approximately one month. The north sidewalk will be closed on Cosburn Avenue west of Pape Avenue for approximately six months. Three new signalized pedestrian crossovers will be activated to support safe pedestrian crossings in the area.

Traffic Changes

  • Minor delays may be experienced near the work zone.
  • Two-way directional traffic will be maintained during the work.
  • All businesses in the area will remain open during the work. Please follow signage for access.

Pedestrian Access

  • Pedestrian detours may be required, with signs in place to direct pedestrians as needed.
  • Clear and defined walking paths will be maintained during construction to ensure pedestrian safety.

Noise and Vibration

  • Crews will take measures to minimize disruptions to the surrounding area wherever possible.
  • Residences and businesses in the area can expect noise and vibration caused by construction equipment related to this work.
  • To minimize noise impacts on the community, noise and vibration monitoring equipment will be installed prior to construction. These devices will help to detect exceedances early to proactively conduct corrective actions as needed while crews work.
  • Noise barrier walls will be installed to dampen and reduce noise from construction.

Transit Service

  • The bus stop[s] at Cosburn Avenue will be temporarily relocated away from work zones to Gowan Avenue. Signs will be posted to keep residents informed.
