Lakeshore West Line GO Expansion
Corridor Improvements
These improvements on the Lakeshore West Line are part of the GO Expansion program, which will bring quieter, faster, safer and more efficient service. These corridor upgrades will enable more frequent, two-way, all-day GO service.
Grade Separations
Eliminating level crossings (where train tracks cross roads) will make the network better, faster and the region easier to travel in. There are two options when building a grade separation, tracks can either go under or over a road or crossing. By separating crossing from the rails, vehicles can pass under (or over) a railway, without having to stop and wait for trains. Metrolinx is building the Burloak Drive grade separation on the Lakeshore West Line.
Burloak Drive Grade Separation
To support the increase in GO service, Metrolinx is working with the City of Burlington and the Town of Oakville to build the Burloak Drive grade separation which will improve traffic flow without having to wait for trains to pass.
Separating Burloak Drive from the rail tracks will deliver the following benefits:
- Allow Metrolinx to deliver increased GO service levels on the Lakeshore West line supporting more frequent, two-way, all-day rail service
- Optimize traffic flow and enhance pedestrian and vehicular safety
- Widen Burloak Drive to accommodate 4 lanes of vehicular traffic with provisions for a future 6 lane road.
- Improvements at Superior Court and Prince William Drive, as well as minor improvements at Harvester and Wyecroft Roads.
- Dedicated multi use pathways along the boulevard and on street bicycle lanes.

Drury Lane Pedestrian Bridge
Upgrades Coming to the Drury Lane Pedestrian Bridge!
Metrolinx’s GO Expansion program is delivering more GO service across the network, including trains every 15 minutes or better on the Lakeshore West line.
To support future increases in GO rail service, Metrolinx is working with the City of Burlington to replace and enhance the Drury Lane Pedestrian Bridge, which is nearing the end of its service life.

The planned upgrades to the Drury Lane Pedestrian Bridge will provide a number of benefits to GO customers and local community:
- Improve pedestrian access
- Make the bridge AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) compliant
- Allow Metrolinx to provide more frequent and faster train service
- Allow for future electrification infrastructure to be incorporated into the Rail Corridor
