Train on the Lakeshore West Line

Lakeshore West Line GO Expansion

Burloak Drive Grade Separation

Metrolinx’s GO Expansion program is delivering more service across the GO network, including the capacity for trains every 15 minutes or better on the Lakeshore West line.

To support future service increases, Metrolinx is working with the City of Burlington and the Town of Oakville to build the Burloak Drive grade separation.

Once complete, the grade separation, also known as a rail-over-road underpass, will enhance safety for the community by allowing trains to pass through the area without disrupting vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

The upgrade will also allow Metrolinx to safely increase the number of trains on the Lakeshore West line in the future, bringing more frequent service for customers.

The grade separation project is currently under construction. For more information on project phases, please check out our project lifecycle page

Burloak Drive - 10-day road closure: May 22-June 01, 2026

We need to fully close Burloak Drive between the Harvester/Wyecroft Roads and Prince William Drive/Superior Court intersections from May 22 to June 1, 2026. Click the link on the map for more information.

Project overview

Separating Burloak Drive from the rail tracks will deliver the following benefits:

  • Reduce congestion and delays, as vehicles will no longer have to wait for trains to pass.
  • Increase safety for GO train passengers, pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles by separating a high-traffic roadway and a busy rail line.
  • Widen Burloak Drive, creating space for on-street bicycle lanes, multi-use path on both sides of the road, and the possibility to expand from four to six vehicle lanes in the future.
  • Widen the intersection and roadway at Superior Court and Prince William Drive, and minor widening improvements at Harvester and Wyecroft roads.
  • Allow Metrolinx to deliver increased GO service levels on the Lakeshore West line supporting more frequent, two-way, all-day service.
