- Preparing the new Burloak rail bridge for service

May 19 – A section of Burloak Drive in Burlington/Oakville will temporarily close this month as work continues on a key GO Expansion project that will deliver more frequent service on the Lakeshore West line.
Starting on May 22, 2026, Burloak Drive will close for 10 days between Harvester/Wyecroft Roads and Prince William Drive/Superior Court intersections to bring train tracks into service on the newly built Burloak rail bridge.
This work is a critical part of the Burloak Drive Grade Separation project, which will allow trains to pass through the area without disrupting vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The grade separation will also allow Metrolinx to safely increase the number of trains on the Lakeshore West line, offering customers more frequent service in the future.
Why a closure is required
A full road closure is required while crews install the necessary grade-crossing infrastructure such as signal arms, which will not be operational until all tracks have been shifted onto the Burloak bridge.
Crews will also relocate and pave the railway crossing on the Burloak detour road and install storm sewers south of the Burloak Drive and Harvester Road/Wyecroft Road intersection.

Detour routes and traffic mitigation
During the closure, traffic will detour around Burloak Drive. Access to the business plaza from Prince William Drive will be maintained.
Metrolinx appreciates the community’s understanding and patience as work continues on this critical infrastructure project in collaboration with the City of Burlington and the Town of Oakville.
