What is Happening?

Metrolinx crews will be conducting open-cut utility crossing work to facilitate site servicing for the east and west platforms at the future Junction Triangle Station. This work will take place during a weekend service pause of the Barrie GO rail line, to allow crews to work on the track without live trains passing by.

  • Construction lighting may be visible from the work site.
  • Where possible, lights from equipment will be positioned away from residential homes to keep light pollution levels low
  • Crews will take precautions to monitor and reduce dust.
  • Increased presence of construction vehicles and equipment can be expected in the work area.
  • Work may be delayed or rescheduled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Trucks leaving and exiting the site will use access points at Sterling Avenue, Bloor Street West, and/or Dora Avenue/St. Helen's Avenue .
  • Trucks will stage inside the work site and will not stage outside of the site boundaries

Traffic Changes

  • No disruptions to traffic are anticipated.

Pedestrian Access

  • All pedestrian sidewalks will remain open throughout the work.

Noise and Vibration

  • Residences and businesses in the area can expect noise and vibration caused by construction equipment related to this work.
  • To minimize noise impacts on the community, noise and vibration monitoring equipment will be installed prior to construction. These devices will help to detect exceedances early to proactively conduct corrective actions as needed while crews work.
  • Trucks accessing the site will be equipped with broadband backup alarms, which emit a less disruptive sound compared to traditional beeping backup alarms.
