Thorncliffe Park Tour
How do you build a subway above a busy city street?
Or carry trains across the Don Valley?
Join us for a guided walk through Thorncliffe Park to see how we’re building a new Ontario Line subway connection in Toronto’s east end.
Explore a different side of subway construction - where an elevated station takes shape before your eyes, subway tracks rise above busy city streets, and a nearly one-kilometre subway bridge stretches across the Don Valley.
What to expect:
We’ll start at the Thorncliffe Park community office in the East York Town Centre, where you’ll get an introduction to the Ontario Line project and get a sneak-peek at the trains and technology behind the line.
Then, we’ll head outside to explore how we’re:
- Building a new station: See the future Thorncliffe Park Station taking shape on Overlea Boulevard.
- Raising the railway: See construction on the elevated guideway, a nearly three-kilometre stretch of raised tracks that will carry Ontario Line trains above street traffic and connect Thorncliffe Park, Flemingdon Park and Don Valley stations.
- Spanning the Don Valley: See construction on the new Don Valley Crossing, one of three new Ontario Line bridges that will carry trains across the Don Valley.
Along the way, we’ll share construction details and renderings of the future designs to help you imagine how today’s construction will become tomorrow’s transit.
Bring your curiosity and your questions!
Important notes:
- We’ll start indoors, then head outside for the walk. Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes.
- Attendees will stay outside active construction zones. No hard hats or safety boots are required.
- Accessibility may be limited by terrain along the walking route.
