What is Happening?

Six Metrolinx-acquired buildings for the Hamilton Light Rail Transit (LRT) project are scheduled to be demolished beginning within several weeks. Demolition contractor Tri-Phase Group will be undertaking this work at the following addresses:
662 King Street East, 666 King Street East, 818 King Street East, 850 King Street East, 1135 King Street East, 1191 King Street East.

What to expect

  • Trucks and construction equipment may generate dust during construction.
  • Crews will take precautions to monitor and reduce dust.
  • Increased presence of construction vehicles and equipment can be expected in the work area.
  • Work areas will be clearly marked or fenced off to ensure public safety.
  • Please exercise caution around active construction sites.
  • Work may be delayed or rescheduled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Traffic Changes

  • Minor delays may be experienced near the work zone.

  • One lane in front of 662 and 666 King Street East will be closed for periods of time during the work. Signage will redirect traffic around the work zones.

Pedestrian Access

  • All pedestrian sidewalks will remain open throughout the work.

Noise and Vibration

  • Residences and businesses in the area may experience noise and vibration caused by construction equipment related to this work.
  • Crews will take measures to minimize disruptions to the surrounding area wherever possible.

Transit Service

  • There is no anticipated impact to transit services.
