Weekend Corridor Work between Maple and Rutherford GO
What is Happening?
In support of GO Expansion, crews will be conducting a turnout installation within the Barrie rail corridor between Maple GO and Rutherford GO (see Figure 1). This work is in support of future double tracking along the Barrie line.
Work will occur over a weekend service pause of the Barrie GO rail line, allowing crews to work safely on the track without live trains passing through.
What to expect
Construction lighting may be visible from the work site.
Where possible, lights from equipment will be positioned away from residential homes to keep light pollution levels low.
Increased presence of construction vehicles and equipment can be expected in the work area.
Work areas will be clearly marked or fenced off to ensure public safety.
Please exercise caution around active construction sites.
Work may be delayed or rescheduled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
Traffic Changes
- No disruptions to traffic are anticipated.
Pedestrian Access
- All pedestrian sidewalks will remain open throughout the work.
Noise and Vibration
- Residences and businesses in the area may experience noise and vibration caused by construction equipment related to this work.
- Crews will take measures to minimize disruptions to the surrounding area wherever possible.
- Trucks accessing the site will be equipped with broadband backup alarms, which emit a less disruptive sound compared to traditional beeping backup alarms.
