A planned power outage is scheduled for Friday, October 23, 2026 at 11 p.m. until Saturday, October 24, 2026 at 7 a.m., approximately. Remaining works will be completed on October 24, 2026 at 11 am until October 25, 2026 at 7 a.m. without an outage. To support future two-way, all-day service on the Barrie Line, crews will be completing utility works along Timothy Street South in Newmarket, ON. This work requires a planned power outage to safely complete the activities. During this time, properties along Main Street South, Cedar Street, Millard Avenue and Doug Duncan Street will be impacted (see Figure 1).

What is Happening?
What to expect
Construction lighting may be visible from the work site.
Where possible, lights from equipment will be positioned away from residential homes to keep light pollution levels low.
Trucks and construction equipment may generate dust during construction.
Crews will take precautions to monitor and reduce dust.
Electricity disruption will interrupt service to tenants and residents at Main Street S, Cedar St, Millard Ave and Doug Duncan Dr near Timothy Street for approximately 8 hours between 07/19/2026 11:00 PM - 07/20/2026 07:00 AM.
Increased presence of construction vehicles and equipment can be expected in the work area.
Work areas will be clearly marked or fenced off to ensure public safety.
Please exercise caution around active construction sites.
Work may be delayed or rescheduled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
Approximately 2-3 trucks will leave the site each day to move materials overnight. In certain circumstances, trucks may need to operate during the day.
Trucks leaving the site will use Timothy St.
Trucks entering the site will use Timothy St.
During an outage, electric garage doors will not work. Please arrange for your car to be moved prior to the outage or ensure door can be opened manually. Turn off all appliances and computers prior to the outage. Charge your electronic devices in advance.
Traffic Changes
- Minor delays may be experienced near the work zone.
- Timothy Street between Cedar Street and Doug Duncan Drive will be reduced for the duration of the work. Signage will redirect traffic around the work zones.
- Two-way directional traffic will be maintained during the work.
Pedestrian Access
- Temporary sidewalk closures or pedestrian detours will be in place while the work is underway, with signs in place to direct pedestrians as needed.
- Clear and defined walking paths will be maintained during construction to ensure pedestrian safety.
Noise and Vibration
- Crews will take measures to minimize disruptions to the surrounding area wherever possible.
Transit Service
- There is no anticipated impact to transit services.
