What is Happening?
The Yonge Street Gardiner off-ramp will be intermittently closed overnight to install an asphalt walkway in the area of the Yonge Street off-ramp. This work will support the Union Station Enhancement Project trailer compound located at Yonge Street and Lakeshore East and increase pedestrian safety.
What to expect
- Construction lighting may be visible from the work site.
- Where possible, lights from equipment will be positioned away from residential homes to keep light pollution levels low.
- Increased presence of construction vehicles and equipment can be expected in the work area.
- Work areas will be clearly marked or fenced off to ensure public safety.
- Please exercise caution around active construction sites.
- Work may be delayed or rescheduled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
Traffic Changes
- Yonge Street Gardiner off-ramp will be closed for periods of time during the work. Signage will redirect traffic around the work zones.
- A paid duty officer, flaggers and detour signs will be onsite to direct traffic as needed.
Pedestrian Access
- Temporary sidewalk closures or pedestrian detours will be in place while the work is underway, with signs in place to direct pedestrians as needed.
Noise and Vibration
- Residences and businesses in the area may experience noise and vibration caused by construction equipment related to this work.
- Crews will take measures to minimize disruptions to the surrounding area wherever possible.
Transit Service
- There is no anticipated impact to transit services.
