Construction activities at Union Station and adjacent corridor (USRC) are being completed in phases to support our greater GO expansion mandate. We have removed and relocated infrastructure and widened the Lower Sherbourne Street and Lower Jarvis Street rail bridges to accommodate future track installation. This August, we will complete several finishing works, including the installation of the bridge fascia and bridge painting.

What is Happening?
What to expect
- Construction lighting may be visible from the work site.
- Where possible, lights from equipment will be positioned away from residential homes to keep light pollution levels low.
- Trucks and construction equipment may generate dust during construction.
- Crews will take precautions to monitor and reduce dust.
- Increased presence of construction vehicles and equipment can be expected in the work area.
- Work areas will be clearly marked or fenced off to ensure public safety.
- Please exercise caution around active construction sites.
- Work may be delayed or rescheduled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
Traffic Changes
- Lower Jarvis Street and Lower Sherbourne Street will be closed for periods of time during the work. Signage will redirect traffic around the work zones.
- A paid duty officer, flaggers and detour signs will be onsite to direct traffic as needed.
- All businesses in the area will remain open during the work. Please follow signage for access.
Pedestrian Access
- Temporary sidewalk closures or pedestrian detours will be in place while the work is underway, with signs in place to direct pedestrians as needed.
Noise and Vibration
- Residences and businesses in the area may experience noise and vibration caused by construction equipment related to this work.
- Crews will take measures to minimize disruptions to the surrounding area wherever possible.
Transit Service
- There is no anticipated impact to transit services.
