Long Branch GO Weekend Closures for Petrucco Bridge Removal

What is Happening?

On the weekend of May 22 to 25, the Petrucco rail bridge on track 3 will be removed. On the following weekend, May 29 to June 01, the Petrucco rail bridges on track 1 and 2 will be removed. This work will take in the daytime and at night. The tracks sitting atop the Petrucco bridges will be cut and removed. A crane will be used to hoist each portion of the bridges out of the corridor. Once all pieces of the bridge are removed, the area will be backfilled and new, pre-built tracks will be placed. During this time, Long Branch GO Station will be closed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience as we take this important step toward building the new station.

What to expect

Construction lighting may be visible from the work site.
Where possible, lights from equipment will be positioned away from residential homes to keep light pollution levels low.
Crews will take precautions to monitor and reduce dust.
Increased presence of construction vehicles and equipment can be expected in the work area.
Work areas will be clearly marked or fenced off to ensure public safety.
Please exercise caution around active construction sites.
Trucks will stage inside the work site and will not stage outside of the site boundaries.
Due to planned construction, Long Branch GO Station parking lot will be closed. A crane will be present on site during the station closure, operating from the parking lot. We kindly ask customers to please refrain from using the parking lot during this time.

Traffic Changes

No disruptions to traffic are anticipated.

Pedestrian Access

Pedestrian detours may be required, with signs in place to direct pedestrians as needed.

Noise and Vibration

Residences and businesses in the area may experience noise and vibration caused by construction equipment related to this work.
Crews will take measures to minimize disruptions to the surrounding area wherever possible.
Residences and businesses in the area can expect noise and vibration caused by construction equipment related to this work.
Trucks accessing the site will be equipped with broadband backup alarms, which emit a less disruptive sound compared to traditional beeping backup alarms.

Transit Service

On Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24, there will be no GO Transit service at Appleby, Bronte, Port Credit, Long Branch, Mimico, or Exhibition GO.
On Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31, there will be no GO Transit service at Appleby, Bronte, Port Credit, or Long Branch GO.
- GO trains will run between Mimico GO and Union Station on a 15-minute schedule.
Long Branch GO Station will be closed for the duration of the work. Signs will be posted to keep customers informed.
