Location of the summer construction activities
What is Happening?
As part of the Birchmount Bridge replacement project, preparatory work will take place throughout the summer. Starting in mid-July, crews will isolate a water valve and relocate hydro poles on the north side of the bridge. Starting in mid-August, temporary streetlights will be installed, which may require short-term lane closures. Birchmount Road will remain open in both directions, and residents are asked to use caution around construction vehicles.
What to expect
- Increased presence of construction vehicles and equipment can be expected in the work area.
- Work areas will be clearly marked or fenced off to ensure public safety.
- Please exercise caution around active construction sites.
Traffic Changes
- No disruptions to traffic are anticipated.
Pedestrian Access
- Temporary sidewalk closures or pedestrian detours will be in place while the work is underway, with signs in place to direct pedestrians as needed.
Noise and Vibration
- Residences and businesses in the area may experience noise and vibration caused by construction equipment related to this work.
Transit Service
- There is no anticipated impact to transit services.
