What is Happening?

Between Tuesday, May 19 and Friday, May 22, 2026, Metrolinx crews will paint new traffic lines at the intersection of Ritson Road and Bloor Street East as part of traffic mitigations for the Simcoe Street bridge replacement. This work will improve pavement markings to enhance roadway visibility, support accurate traffic monitoring, and help guide motorists through adjusted traffic patterns.

The work will occur for one night within the four-day window and will require rotating lane closures on Ritson and Bloor Streets as crews carry out the work. Traffic flow in both directions will be maintained.

These improvements are being completed to support the Simcoe Street closure to ensure safe, clear, and efficient detour operations for all road users.

What to expect

  • Increased presence of construction vehicles and equipment can be expected in the work area.
  • Work areas will be clearly marked or fenced off to ensure public safety.
  • Please exercise caution around active construction sites.
  • Work may be delayed or rescheduled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Traffic Changes

  • Ritson and Bloor Streets will be reduced for periods of time during the work. Signage will redirect traffic around the work zones.

Pedestrian Access

  • All pedestrian sidewalks will remain open throughout the work.

Noise and Vibration
