What is Happening?
Crews will be installing a new watermain beneath the rail corridor. Non-impactful works will begin on September 8. Crews will begin main construction work on September 30. Main work includes construction of micro tunnelling shafts, micro tunnelling and open-cut excavation to install the watermain. Micro tunnelling is used to install a new watermain with minimal surface disruption. A bypass will be installed to maintain water service while the new watermain is being tied back into the system.
What to expect
- Trucks and construction equipment may generate dust during construction.
- Increased presence of construction vehicles and equipment can be expected in the work area.
- Work areas will be clearly marked or fenced off to ensure public safety.
- Please exercise caution around active construction sites.
- Work may be delayed or rescheduled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
Traffic Changes
- No disruptions to traffic are anticipated.
Pedestrian Access
- All pedestrian sidewalks will remain open throughout the work.
Noise and Vibration
- Residences and businesses in the area may experience noise and vibration caused by construction equipment related to this work.
- Crews will take measures to minimize disruptions to the surrounding area wherever possible.
- To minimize noise impacts on the community, noise monitoring equipment will be installed prior to construction. These devices will help to detect exceedances early to proactively conduct corrective actions as needed while crews work.
