What is Happening?
From September 26, 2026, to December 31, 2028, access to Highview Avenue from Birchmount Road will be closed, as shown on the map. This closure is required to support the reconstruction of the bridge and is expected to remain in place for the duration of the work.
In preparation for the bridge demolition, crews will be working in the vicinity of the bridge on the following weekends: September 25 to 28, November 6 to 8, and November 20 to 22, to prepare the east-side bridge deck for removal.
On the weekend of November 27 to 30, the east side of the Birchmount Road Bridge will be removed.
All work will be conducted continuously during daytime and overnight hours.
What to expect
- Construction lighting may be visible from the work site.
- Increased presence of construction vehicles and equipment can be expected in the work area.
- Work areas will be clearly marked or fenced off to ensure public safety.
- Please exercise caution around active construction sites.
- Access to Highview Ave from Birchmount will not be possible during construction. Aylesworth and Pinegrove Aves will remain open.
Traffic Changes
- Highview Ave at Birchmount Road will be closed for the duration of the work. Signage will redirect traffic around the work zones.
- Two-way directional traffic will be maintained during the work.
Pedestrian Access
- Pedestrian detours may be required, with signs in place to direct pedestrians as needed.
Noise and Vibration
- Residences and businesses in the area may experience noise and vibration caused by construction equipment related to this work.
