Metrolinx has begun early works construction to support Woodbine GO station. As part of this work, Metrolinx will be conducting track works within the rail corridor over a weekend service pause for the Kitchener line. Work will include track ballast removal and the installation of a temporary pedestrian bridge to support future platform construction. Work will begin at 11:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026 and will continue, day and night, into the morning of Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 5:00 a.m.

What is Happening?
What to expect
- Construction lighting may be visible from the work site.
- Where possible, lights from equipment will be positioned away from residential homes to keep light pollution levels low.
- Trucks and construction equipment may generate dust during construction.
- Crews will take precautions to monitor and reduce dust.
- Increased presence of construction vehicles and equipment can be expected in the work area.
- Work areas will be clearly marked or fenced off to ensure public safety.
- Please exercise caution around active construction sites.
- Work may be delayed or rescheduled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
- Approximately 2-3 trucks will leave the site each day to move materials overnight. In certain circumstances, trucks may need to operate during the day.
- Excavators, rock trucks hydrovac trucks, boom trucks, and a crane will be used for the duration of this work.
Pedestrian Access
- Pedestrian detours may be required, with signs in place to direct pedestrians as needed.
Noise and Vibration
- Crews will take measures to minimize disruptions to the surrounding area wherever possible.
- Residences and businesses in the area can expect noise and vibration caused by construction equipment related to this work.
Transit Service
- GO Service on the Kitchener Line will be closed for the duration of the work. Signs will be posted to keep residents informed.
