What is Happening?

The remaining invasive trees and shrubs on the Railpath will be removed and treated with herbicide as early as May 19, 2026. Crews will cut and remove the invasive plants between Dupont St and Wallace Ave, followed by a direct application of herbicide to the stumps.

What to expect

  • Increased presence of construction vehicles and equipment can be expected in the work area.
  • Work areas will be clearly marked or fenced off to ensure public safety.
  • Please exercise caution around active construction sites.
  • Work may be delayed or rescheduled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Product Used: Garlon RTU Registration Number: 29334 Active Ingredient: Triclopyr Application Area: West Toronto Railpath between Dupont Street and Wallace Avenue There will be no entry to the treated area until the product has dried. The area will be safe for people and pets once it has completely dried. Please keep to the paved path until all removal work is complete. Path users may be briefly stopped by flagpersons to ensure your safety while this work occurs.

Traffic Changes

  • The West Toronto Railpath between Dupont St and Wallace Ave will be reduced for the duration of the work. Signage will redirect traffic around the work zones.

Pedestrian Access

  • Pedestrian detours may be required, with signs in place to direct pedestrians as needed.

Noise and Vibration

  • Residences and businesses in the area may experience noise and vibration caused by construction equipment related to this work.

Transit Service

  • There is no anticipated impact to transit services.
