Four new PRESTO machines bring convenient fare payment options closer to local neighbourhoods.
Oct. 24 – Metrolinx and the TTC are installing four PRESTO Fare Vending Machines (FVMs) at key street corners across Toronto, providing nearly 18,000 daily riders with more convenient access to PRESTO services.
“Bringing PRESTO machines closer to home makes it simple and convenient for customers to confidently choose transit,” said Metrolinx President and CEO Michael Lindsay. “It’s about equity, accessibility and putting communities first.”
The new machines, repurposed from the TTC’s decommissioned Line 3 Scarborough, are being installed this fall. One machine was recently installed at Jane Street and Sheppard Avenue West, and work is underway at a second location at Markham Road and Ellesmere Road. Two additional machines will be installed at Kennedy Road and Ellesmere Road, and Keele Street and Lawrence Avenue West.
Each machine will allow customers to buy and load PRESTO cards and tickets using cash, debit or credit, check their balances, and load monthly passes. The machines will be wrapped in distinctive PRESTO branding, making them easy to spot and use, consistent with other PRESTO services.
