New transit line transforming travel across the GTA.
Feb. 9 - Toronto’s newest rapid transit line, Line 5 Eglinton, is open to the public.
The 19-kilometre transit line provides fast, reliable service along one of Toronto’s busiest corridors, running from Mount Dennis Station in the west to Kennedy Station in the east. With 25 stations and stops, Line 5 Eglinton connects riders to TTC Line 1 and 2 subways, 68 bus routes, as well as the Kitchener and Stouffville GO lines and UP Express — transforming travel across the region.
The TTC is responsible for the day-to-day operation of Line 5 Eglinton. Metrolinx and the TTC worked together to ensure a smooth launch.
Customers can pay for their ride on Line 5 Eglinton the same way they pay for other TTC services: using their PRESTO, debit or credit card. Through One Fare, customers pay only once when transferring between GO Transit, the TTC and participating transit agencies.
Historic milestone for Toronto transit
Line 5 Eglinton represents a major step forward in expanding Toronto’s rapid transit network. In addition to connecting riders to TTC bus and subway routes, GO Transit and UP Express, Line 5 will have future links to the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension, Ontario Line subway and the Scarborough Subway Extension.
