New Line 6 Finch West begins service on Dec. 7, 2025
Dec. 8 — Toronto’s newest rapid transit line, Line 6 Finch West is officially open to the public.
Line 6 Finch West is a nearly 11-kilometre transit line linking Humber College Station in the west to Finch West Station in the east. With 18 stops, it provides faster, more reliable service along one of Toronto’s busiest corridors. The line also connects with TTC Line 1, GO Transit, MiWay, Zum, York Region Transit and Brampton Transit.
The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of Line 6 Finch West which is now integrated as part of the broader Toronto transit system. Since the beginning of the project, Metrolinx and the TTC have worked in close collaboration to ensure the effectiveness of the project – with Metrolinx as the owner and constructor of the line and the TTC as the operator.
Customers can pay for their ride just like every other current TTC service: using PRESTO, debit or credit. And through One Fare, customers only pay once when traveling between GO Transit, TTC, and other participating transit agencies.
Historic milestone for Toronto transit
Line 6 Finch West is another major step in expanding the region’s rapid transit network, helping more people get where they need to go, safely and efficiently.
On top of seamless connections to major destinations like Humber Polytechnic and Etobicoke General hospital, Line 6 provides connections to numerous local and regional transit systems. By 2031, this line is expected to move 12 million people per year.
Transit projects underway across the region are creating a connected network where new lines link with existing services to give people more options and more reliable journeys.
